There are brilliant filmmakers who lack the training and on-ground understanding of how depolarizing works; they need to “depolarize within” first. And there are excellent moderators & facilitators who understand the work of bridging but do not understand the power of media or how to leverage it. I have more than a decade of visual storytelling experience directing, filming, editing, and producing video content for a variety of industries, my work has been shown on national TV in the US and in India, at film festivals across the world, and won many awards including the “Most Important Video of the Year” award from CNN-India. And I also have years of facilitating conversations that have helped people see their common humanity and find common ground (yes, there is a difference between the two things).
